Rockland for refit

Melina is back in Rockland and will be here for two or three weeks for Ian to do some work, including repainting the bottom. Hope to be back in the water in mid September.

The plan is to stay in Maine until about the first week in October and then move fairly rapidly (as far as wind, weather & gearbox allows) stopping amongst other places, at New London and Annapolis.
We are still awaiting spares for the gear box, ordered in early July so we can moved at more than 4knots and do without the emegancy drive system.

Camden ME

We are visiting Camden today a small beautiful town with big yachts. Melina was anchored next to the J class Endevour and a 130' schooner from Cowes. Both of which we had seen in Antigua last winter

Jens & Darek leave on Monday. We are driving them down to New London by hire car and will spend the night there before returning to Rockland on Tuesday.

Magda & I will hope to travel furthrer east and return to Rockland at the end of the month when Magda has to leave. I will then look for somewher to haulout Melina as the bottom is very dirty and needs repainting.

Rockland Harbor. ME

We have arrived in Rockland in thick fog. The most of last week has been foggy with little or no wind, so we have motored slowly with our toubled gear box at 4 knots. Navigating with GPS and radar. The only things we have seen are a few navigation buoys and rocks! Otherwise we do not know what the scenery looks like and have to rely on photographs to see where we are.

We anchored in Long Cove Tennant Harbor only to discover when the fog cleared for a short time to find that there were nine other yachts near us! Ian
